Hi ladies and gentleman,
by now we are in Christmas, some people buy gifts, some other plan to take an holiday and some other, like me, want to take a break from the ordinary life style. Now I'll tell you my Xmas eve and briefly what I did this Sunday.
How it's well know, between Saturday was the Winter solstice and Sunday, the day after, was the day (or batter the night) of full moon. I was very curious in another new way, away from the cities light that unfortunately cover almost of the shiny stars. But alas Sunday morning was a very cloudy
day and during the afternoon and the evening the weather won't get better, so until the morning I understood that no sun or shiny stars waiting for me! :-) Even if I have decided that I couldn't stay at home and do nothing, so I have departed to reached Stivo mountain top from an alternative path in the wood. At 11:00 AM I was in Troiana, ready to go to Malga Vallestrè. When I reached Malga Vallestrè I have taken the path called sentiero del diavolo (in English could sounds like Hell's path), numbered with S.A.T. path number 666. It's true, it isn't a joke! After about two hour I have reached Stivo Mountain top that was rolled up in the foggy. Then after an hot thick vegetable soup, I was ready to come back home by foot.
Sunday was therefore an ordinary trekking day. Now I'll tell you about Monday, about an extraordinary Christmas eve.
I was setting down near Nicola on his car sit, we was reaching the mountain refuge Graziani on Altissimo mountain. Over our heads there were wonderful stars and side by side there was an incredible full (not at all) moon that with its palled light was keeping us good company. After a while, maybe for the bright and lively chat, maybe for the spell that the full moon put on us or just because we can't reach a mountain top without detaure, we had lost the right path and so we have reached the mountain top from a new path, that it will be called Nicola-Roberto's BIS path (BIS because we have had open a new path on the other side of mountain some months ago, and Nicola was first in the both path name because... :-) ).
After an hour and half we were on the mountain top but unfortunately it was close!!!!!!!!! I've not carried with myself
any hot tea or anything else to eat! You can think that I'm not too smart but this is that will happen to follow Nicola at about 8:00 P.M. at Christmas eve, on a new path under an incredible full moon!... i.e. a wonderful Xmas gift. Yes, for me this is a gift because when you are at almost 2100 mt. hight with a cold ind that slapping your face and stand motionless singing "Fischia il vento...", you couldn't want everything else apart three disco dancing girls: a red hair with green eyes, a brown hair with blue eyes and a blond hair one with sky-blue eyes inside the mountain refuge... Nicola, I've forget someone else? :-)
After take some photos we departed to reach the car and when we have been at the almost the end of the path we have discovered that we had taken the wrong path till the start of our tour, but I'm glad of this!
After ten kilometers we have stopped to a typical Trentino restaurant, were for Xmas eve supper we have eaten a an ostrich stew with mash tun and polenta (it's a sort of thick porrige made with maize flour). Maybe this restaurant it's not the most typical in Trentino! :-)
At twelve o'clock we were drinking brulè wine (an hot and spice wine) with our friend Christian.
Today or batter yesterday I had a delicious Xmas lunch with my family. Now it 3.36 A.M. on 26 of December, I dress up with my most elegant dress with a very cute tie... but this matter little now.
Before live you I wold like to thanks with Nicola, maybe the only person at world that endorse my insane mountain project. Many thanks Nicola!
